Sumak Kawsay is a concept of life and well-being that comes from the indigenous cultures of Latin America, especially the indigenous peoples of Peru. This philosophy has become an important approach to sustainable development and the importance of considering social, cultural, and environmental aspects in the pursuit of human well-being.
Sumak Kawsay is a paradigm that is established on five principles:

Without knowledge or wisdom there is no life (Tucu Yachay).

We all come from Mother Earth (Pacha Mama).

Life is healthy (hambi kawsay).

Life is collective (sumak kamaña).

We all have an ideal or dream.
Sumak Kawsay , El Buen Vivir, or splendid existence, clashes with the idea of unlimited progress. Pachamama, or Mother Nature, has limits that prevent unlimited development and growth at the expense of the "other"—nature, which includes human beings. Embracing this harmonious relationship requires re-understanding and applying complementarity and cooperation—not accumulation.
